For those new to contemporary dance, this is a perfect introduction for you, and will guarantee you won’t regret giving something new a try, for those who have experience it’s a chance to refresh your existing skills!

BDE

BDE 2010 was held in Birmingham, as a regional artist I was able to attend the festival. The four days were a mixture of performances, debates, discussions and smoozing! For me the highlight was 'clod ensemble', a theatre company with a difference. It's intimacy and ability to reflect the everyday without being mundane, held my attention from the start. As a choreographer of solos it was also refreshing to see solo work that held it's own against big production numbers. I was particulary drawn to Simon Ellis's piece, 'gertrude'. Ellis held the audiences attention throughout his 20 minute piece that explored an imagined conversation with Gertrude.

BDE was a chance to network with the makers and shakers of the British Contemporary dance today.
